Brendan Agnew – Lead Teacher, 2009 Brendan graduated from Norman High School in 2003 and has his certification in CPR and First Aid. While working with the Discoverers, Brendan tries to connect everything he teaches with play. When the kids learn about animals, for example, he spends a month teaching the kids where different animals live. He encourages the children to play as a way to spark their curiosity and to make them want to learn more about why and how. His sister, Bronwyn, also works here at Middle Earth, as does his wife, Mabry, and they have been married 4 years. Brendan enjoys reading, writing, theatre, music, film, and comic books. He also likes to cook, and has a passion for history, specifically that of Medieval Europe. “Teaching at Middle Earth is the best job I’ve ever had. Before starting here, I’d worked with children of various ages as a sitter, counselor, and mentor, but hadn’t really considered teaching preschool until friends and family suggested Middle Earth specifically. As a Middle Earth alum, (1986-1993) I feel very lucky to be back with the institution that was such a big part of my early life. Few things are as rewarding as a working with these kids, and I can’t wait to see what we’ll discover about each other.”
